centOS VS CloudLinux

What is CentOS? The CentOS Project is a community-driven free software effort focused on delivering a robust open source ecosystem. For users, we offer a consistent manageable platform that suits a wide variety of deployments. For open source communities, we offer a solid, predictable base to build upon, along with extensive resources to build, test, release, and maintain their code What is CloudLinux? CloudLinux OS is designed for shared hosting providers. It isolates each customer into a separate “Lightweight Virtualized Environment” (LVE), which partitions, allocates, and limits server resources, like memory, CPU. In the shared hosting environment, it is critical to ensure no single user can overload a system with their applications. But with any shared server, it’s always a matter of “when will the server be overloaded by a customer” rather than “will a customer overload the server?” One of the major game changers in web hosting has been the introduction of CloudLinux, an operating system designed to tackle all of the problems related to web hosting and dedicated server utilization. We’re proud to offer CloudLinux at Vpscy.com, and we wanted to outline some of the reasons a web host would choose to use it on their dedicated server. CentOS vs CloudLinux CentOS is a robust operating system that has been hosting websites for many years now. It offers better performance when there are only few websites on the server. CloudLinux on the other hand, comes as a best solution when you need to share resources among large number of websites. Stability When coming to Web Hosting servers, stability is of great importance. In CloudLinux servers, there is option to limit resources allotted to a particular user. As a result, in a shared server, no single user can overload the server. This is a great advantage when there are many websites hosted on the same server. CentOS has been around for a while now in the Hosting industry. It is efficient in handling few websites that requires high resource usage. Security Another major factor that affects the choice of server type is security.CloudLinux utilizes a technology called CageFS. This technology completely separates each user’s file system. So, a user cannot see another user’s files or processes.  This is really helpful in shared hosting servers. All websites cannot be hacked due to one account being compromised. Fortunately, CentOS also provides timely security patches that are really easy to install. They typically rule out all the security flaws. But we need to make sure that all website applications are secure. Our Engineers set up a decent firewall system on CentOS server, ensures timely updates and this helps to effectively defend attackers.

cPanel Price Increases. What Does This Mean to You?

Will your Hosting price be increased? In general, we will do our best to avoid the increase in fees for our clients. However, for some services, we will be forced to increase the fee in order to cover our license costs. Business Pro Web Hosting fees won’t be increased due to this change in cPanel pricing. However, for the Standard Web Hosting Hosting clients who are using cPanel, we will have to increase the subscription fee, depending on the number of their cPanel accounts. Those clients will be informed via email in the upcoming period. Clients that do not accept the increase of fees, will not be able to use cPanel, but will use CWP (CentOS Web Panel) which it’s an alternative control panel.
